Swissport raises the decline of the electric fleet

Swissport leads the green transition to the industry by investing more than 1.5 billion euros of environmentally friendly technology, including the new Earth Electric Support Equipment (GSE) and renewable energy over five years. As part of the ongoing fleet renewal strategy, Swissport has bought more than 1000 GSes Hybrid and Electrical New 18 months, which is published in 28 countries.

Over the next five years, the company plans to invest more than 1.5 billion euros to double its efforts to achieve its ambitious goal of GSE by 55 percent by 2032.

“This investment in Eco-Tich is a decisive step and our leading site in industry reflects sustainability and innovation. Over the next five years, we will build the largest electric fleet in the world. Our strong commitment to clean energy also supports our airline customers by helping reduce global supply chain emissions.”

Swissport runs the largest GSE fleet in the world, with approximately 14,500 units with engines, the largest buyer of new electrical equipment. With this scale, the company is in a unique position to pay a meaningful change in airport operations.

The current operating program raises the SWISSPORT electric share to 25.0 % worldwide, with strong progress in the main European centers and a clear road map for its continuous acceleration. Switzerland stands out as a presentation of the progress: all the three Swiss airports – Zurich (43 percent), Basel (51.4 %), and Genev (59.4 percent) – are on the right track to reach 55 percent of the electricity electrification by the end of 2025.

The newly published units-which range from electrical luggage tractors and the processes of belt races to passengers and decline tractors-are offered in cooperation with first-class manufacturers under long-term agreements. These partnerships ensure the availability of constant equipment, consistent quality and optimal operational performance. Swissport also works closely with the airport authorities to facilitate the offering of supportive infrastructure, including charging stations and improving energy supplies.

The transition to electricity not only reduces carbon and particle emissions, but also enhances operational and reliability efficiency, providing multiple benefits to airlines, airports and employees. These include the most calm and comfortable compounds, low maintenance costs that enhance equipment, increased automation capabilities, and enhance safety through advanced features such as anti -commitment systems. Since Swissport is expanding its electricity program in all regions, the company remains committed to close cooperation with airport partners, organizers and manufacturers. Through a clear investment road map and ambitious targets, Swissport defines new standards for efficiency, safety and environmental performance, which helps to form a more sustainable future for flight operations.
