Meta investors, Zuckerberg settles on a Facebook privacy suit
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta and Meta CEO, settled a $ 8 billion lawsuit with shareholders on Thursday.
Investors were looking for $ 8 billion in damage to the fines and legal costs that Facebook rose to solve the violations of the privacy of users.
The settlement details were not immediately available, and a Meta spokesman refused to comment on the matter. Facebook changed its name to Meta in 2021.
The case follows the settlement of 2019 with the Federal Trade Committee (FTC) after data leakage to Cambridge Analytica, a political consulting company used by President Trump’s campaign during his first attempt at the White House.
They claimed that the $ 5 billion settlement with FTC six years ago was made to protect Zuckerberg from financial obligations after data breach.
Eleven of the defendants were named in the case in front of Judge Cathaline McCromic in the Dilayer Court in Cheseri.
Peter Thil, co -founder of Palantir Technologies, and Reed Hastings, co -founder of Netflix, were included as a defendant in the case, according to the BBC.
The perpetrator also stated that Jeff Zintis, former chief of staff of President Biden White and two -year -old dead manager, was also named in court documents.
