5 fast food from Trump’s visit to the Federal Reserve
On Thursday, President Trump visited the federal reserve headquarters alongside President Jerome Powell to tour a major renewal that occurred there, a project he criticized and managed as a budget.
Powell Trump’s anger drew on the Central Bank’s decision to maintain interest rates in their location, pointing to economic uncertainty. Trump’s visit to the facility included a rare public appearance of the president and Powell together, wearing white difficult hats while they walked around the construction site.
Trump significantly from the idea of launching Powell, which he appointed in 2017, but maintained the pressure of the desire to reduce interest rates to make borrowing more affordable.
Here are five fast food from the visit.
Trump retracts pressure on Powell
Trump has for several months to shoot Powell, which could coincide with a set of legal issues if he did it for no reason. On Thursday, this idea retreated significantly, saying that there was no “pressure” on Powell to step down from his role before his term in May, on the pretext that he believed the chair will eventually reduce interest rates.
“No, there is no pressure. We want to have – you know that his mandate comes soon. I think he will do the right thing. Everyone knows what is right,” Trump said in a sign of lower interest rates.
When asked why he will not shoot Powell if he believed that interest rates hurt me, Trump said he would be unnecessary.
“Because doing this is a big step and I do not think it is necessary. I think he will do the right thing, I think the president will do the right thing. It may be too late, as the expression says,” referring to his title in favor of “Powell”.
Trump said that he has two or three people into consideration to replace Powell when his term ends next May. The president also mocked the Senator Tim Scott nomination (RS.C.), who was standing next to Trump, but Senator will not leave his position in Congress. Scott heads the Senate Banking Committee, which oversees the Federal Reserve.
Trump says “Don’t be tense” with Powell
The President stressed that there is no tension between him and Powell during the visit on Thursday, despite the ongoing monetary comments and the invitation of the name he presented to the chair because of the failure to reduce prices.
He said when asked about the energy between him and Powell: “I don’t think he was tense.”
“I thought we had a good meeting. There was no tension. There was no tension. I think he had more tension with the great Senator to the right,” he said.
“I feel satisfied with that,” Trump added about his relationship with Powell, who was called “stupid”, “stubborn” and “detailed head”.
Trump and Powell last time at the White House met in May. The White House said at the time that Trump did not tell Powell that he wanted to replace him.
Trump says that the Federal Reserve Renewal is not firefighting
Trump said after obtaining a tour of the project that the cost of renewal did not give him reasons for Nix Powell.
“Look, I love to see it complete, I don’t want to put it in this category,” he said when asked whether the project is a fire -possibility crime. “It is a very complicated thing that can be simple.”
Trump was asked, along with Powell earlier in the tour, what he would do if the project manager was higher than the budget, and he answered that he would launch it.
“In general, what will I do? I will shoot him,” Trump said.
The president added that he wanted to see the “completion” renewal.
“In many ways, it is very bad, but it started,” he said.
Last week, Trump suggested that the cost excesses may be a firefighter crime for the height after the major White House officials escaped the price of changes in the building.
Powell pays to the price sign
In one of the most prominent moments during the visit, Powell responded to the estimate of Trump’s cost of renovations, and the president told that he was looking at numbers from an old project.
“It seems that it is more than $ 3.1 billion,” Trump said.
He shook his head.
The president said: “I am not aware of this, sir.” “I haven’t heard that from anyone at the Federal Reserve.”
Trump pulled a piece of paper from his jacket, which he said was reserve. Powell pulled his glasses to check the document closely before Trump told that it included the cost of another building that was completed five years ago.
“It is part of public work,” Trump said.
“This is not new,” Powell answered.
Trump insists that interest rates are the issue, not renewal
Trump insisted that the main concerns he owns with the Powell Center on the Federal Reserve does not reduce interest rates, and reported that the costs of renewal at the headquarters were less important.
Trump said: “We looked around … and we saw what we saw and the big thing is its achievement, and they must accomplish this, and they must finish. Most importantly, they have to reduce interest rates,” Trump said.
“We want to decrease the prices and want to finish the Federal Reserve. So, I met the contractors and toured the president and we had a very good tour, and we will talk to you about it at some point, and Tim and I, we somewhat understand what happened,” Trump continued without explaining.
Scott replied: “It is expensive. The bottom line is this, the Americans deserve to become the home buyer for the first time.”
After the visit, Trump took the social truth, where he said about the renewal: “This is what it is.”
“The costs of the costs are great, but on the positive side, our country is in very good condition and can bear almost anything – even the cost of this building! I will see, and we hope it will add some experience,” Trump published.
During the visit, Trump said it was good to return to the construction site – as he returned to his career as a real estate developer before running for the presidency.
Trump was also asked when asked if he had seen the poor management of the renewal, describing him as a “luxurious situation”, but he added that if he were responsible, he would have dealt with the project differently.
He added: “There is always Gorterbbeck on Monday morning, I do not want to be so. I want to help them finish it. I have continued for years and I want to help them finish.”
Earlier in the visit, Trump and Powell shared your laughing when one of the reporters asked whether there was anything that Powell could say to him to retract his criticism.
“Well, I would like to reduce interest rates. Otherwise, what can I tell you?” He said.
