1 out of 3 Americans do not have emergency savings: wiping



(Newsnation) – A third of Americans lack an emergency savings fund, while 29 % have not been able to withstand unexpected expenses of more than $ 400, according to a new survey of the retirement plan provider.

The survey also found that the average emergency savings for Americans is $ 500.

The majority of respondents in the poll, 63 %, said that the high cost of living made it difficult to build and preserve emergency boxes, as more than half (58 %) describes savings for emergency situations as “almost impossible” in the current economic climate.

In addition, half of the Americans (50 %) said that they were pressured the amount of the current emergency savings, and 42 % of their savings would not help if they lost their job, and a growing fear given the waters of the American labor market, and to provide continued artificial intelligence and the uncertainty that the new definitions announced this year by the Trump administration.

The empowerment study is based on an online survey that included 2,202 Americans between the ages of 18 years and over, and it was given between 3 and 5 June 2025. Full results can be found here.
